“Foxes” defeat Enisey in Krasnoyarsk

UMMC confidently took revenge in the first game of the second round of the FONBET Russian Championship - Premier League against Enisey Krasnoyarsk with a score of 72:93.

The opening quarter was tense, with the Siberians showing their fighting spirit from the first minutes, while the Yekaterinburg team found themselves trailing and had to play catch-up. However, closer to the middle of the period, Dmitrii Donskov’s team leveled the situation. Towards the end of the quarter, the “Foxes” increased their pace - Lisec and Kosu dominated in the paint, and Nogic hit an accurate long-range shot, putting the visitors ahead. The first quarter ended in favor of UMMC - 21:26.

The second ten-minute period was closely contested. Anastasiia Shilova opened the scoring with a long-range shot, but Enisey quickly restored parity. The Yekaterinburg team didn’t allow the hosts to turn the tide of the game: a three-pointer from Maryia Papova just before halftime solidified the visitors’ lead. The score was 37:42 – UMMC went into the halftime break with a small but important advantage.     

After the break, the “Foxes” played more aggressively. Bentley and Tretyakova repeatedly hit from beyond the arc, increasing the lead to 7 points. Midway through the period, UMMC went on a three-point shooting spree - Walker, Nogic, and Levchenko were all on target. Before the final quarter, the reigning champions were confidently ahead - 58:65.    

The final period turned into a showcase for Jovana Nogic - the Serbian sharpshooter left the opponents no chance, sinking four long-range shots. The “Foxes” made a 15-point run, putting Enisey in a hopeless position. The final buzzer sounded with a score of 72:93, securing another victory for UMMC!

The top scorer for the “Foxes” was Jovana Nogic with 20 points and 2 rebounds. Kseniia Levchenko had 14 points and 6 assists. Alex Bentley scored 12 points and grabbed 2 rebounds.

In the squad of Enisey, Daria Levchenko and Inna Fastova scored 13 points apiece, while Olga Petrova had 11 points and 4 rebounds.

UMMC will play their next game at home, though not in Yekaterinburg, but at the Sports Palace of UMMC in Verkhnyaya Pyshma on February 18 against Nadezhda from Orenburg. The game starts at 19:00.
