UMMC-Junior lose to Kazanochka in two home games

On November 30 and December 1, UMMC-Junior played two home games against Kazanochka in Verkhnyaya Pyshma as part of the FONBET Russian Championship – Superleague. Both games were fiercely contested, but the Yekaterinburg team suffered defeats in each.

In the first game of the series, UMMC farm team started confidently, taking the lead with a three-point shot from Gusakova and accurate plays from Golubeva. The first quarter ended with a score of 29-22 in favor of the Yekaterinburg team. However, in the second period, the guests seized the initiative, demonstrating a more coordinated game, and went into halftime with a comfortable lead of 33-42. In the third quarter, the juniors tried to close the gap, but the Kazan team successfully maintained their lead, despite bursts of activity from the hosts. In the crucial moment, the “Foxes” lacked accuracy in their offense, and the final score of 61-69 secured the victory for Kazanochka.

The highest-scoring players in the squad of Kazanochka were Alina Ledneva (13 points) and Polina Katlinskaya (12 points), while in the squad of UMMC-Junior the top scorers were Sofia Golubeva (16 points) and Karolina Korkina (12 points).

On December 1, in the second game, the team of Elena Kuzmina once again showed their character, despite the initial advantage of the guests. Anastasia Odintsova dominated the court, but the first quarter ended with a score of 16:21 in favor of the Kazan players. In the second period, the juniors reduced the deficit to a minimum - 34:35, keeping the intrigue alive for the second half. In the third quarter, the players from Yekaterinburg managed to tie the score, but a series of accurate attacks by the visiting team restored their lead - 49:56. The final minutes were emotional: Samusheva brought her team ahead in the closing moments, but the experience of the Kazan team allowed them to snatch the victory. The final score was 68-72 in favor of Kazanochka.

The scoring leader for the home team was captain Anastasia Odintsova with 14 points. Polina Gusakova and Svetlana Samusheva each scored 12 points.

In the squad of Kazanochka, the top-scorer was Polina Nikulochkina with 15 points. Elena Fedotova and Alina Ledneva each had 14 points.   

The next series for the juniors will take place on December 14-15 on their home court in Verkhnyaya Pyshma. Their opponent will be Spartak from St. Petersburg. The games will start at 13:00 and 12:00, respectively.
