UMMC extend their winning streak with a game against “Sparta&K”

The brilliant performance of Zhosselina Maiga helped the hosts secure a 71:61 victory over the team from Vidnoje in a home game of the Fonbet Russian Championship - Premier League.

Scores by quarter: 22:25, 20:7, 15:20, 14:9

On November 3, ahead of National Unity Day, UMMC players faced Sparta&K from Vidnoje at the DIVS arena in Yekaterinburg. Due to Eva Lisec and Jovana Nogic being called up for training camps with the national teams of Slovenia and Serbia, the “Foxes” squad was incomplete. Instead, young players from the farm team - Sofia Golubeva, Alena Burmakina, and Polina Gusakova - were included in the game lineup.

At the start, the visiting team felt more than confident, successfully converting a couple of consecutive attacks. The hosts found themselves in a chasing role. Zhosselina Maiga displayed excellent energy, scoring 9 points in the first quarter. An accurate three-pointer by Svetlana Kramar marked the end of the quarter with a slight advantage for the visitors - 22:25.

The course of the game changed noticeably in the second segment. The aforementioned Zhosselina Maiga started again with accurate attacks on the opponent’s basket, scoring both long-range and mid-range shots, which secured a 4-point lead for the “Foxes”. The Vidnoje team managed to score only 7 points in the entire quarter. The teams went into the halftime break with a score of 42:32 in favor of UMMC.

The third quarter turned out to be tough once again. Anastasiia Shilova deserves mention - after sustaining a minor injury in the previous period, she returned to the court in fighting spirit and scored a couple of three-pointers. The team of Sergei Danilin didn’t concede this quarter, but UMMC still maintained the lead at 57:52.

The final quarter unfolded without unexpected comebacks. The team of Dmitrii Donskov continued to extend their advantage and did not relinquish the victory. Thus, the final buzzer sealed another win for the Yekaterinburg team with a score of 71:61.

Among the “Foxes,” standout players were Zhosselina Maiga (21 points, 9 rebounds), Megan Walker (12 points, 9 rebounds), and Anastasiia Shilova (10 points, 2 rebounds). In the squad of Sparta&K, the top scorers were Polina Selezeneva (12 points, 4 rebounds) and Ksenia Kuzmina (10 points, 3 rebounds).

UMMC will play the next game in Yekaterinburg on November 14 against Samara. The game starts at 19:00.
