UMMC start the official season with major victory

The UMMC basketball players kicked off the regular Fonbet Championship of Russia with a home game against Dynamo Moscow. The Yekaterinburg team dominated most of the encounter and secured a confident victory.

The hosts opened the scoring, and then the teams engaged in a close contest. However, with two minutes left, the team of Dmitrii Donskov pulled ahead by 8 points. The first quarter ended with a score of 22:15 in favor of the “Foxes”.

At the beginning of the second ten-minute period, Olairi Kosu and Kseniia Levchenko increased the lead to a comfortable 12 points. From there, the advantage only grew. In the final minutes, a three-pointer from Viktoriia Tretyakova and a lay-up after a steal by Alex Bentley extended the lead to a significant 18 points. The teams went for the halftime break with a score of 45:27 in favor of UMMC.    

In the third segment, the trend continued. In the opening minutes, accurate long-range shots by Alex Bentley and Jovana Nogic widened the gap to 26 points. The Dynamo players tried to resist, but managed to score only 6 points throughout the entire quarter. Before the final part, the score was 61:33 in favor of the hosts.

As expected, the final quarter of the game went without intrigue. Megan Walker, who took the court for the first time, added 7 points to the UMMC team's tally. Accurate mid-range shots from Kseniia Levchenko and Eva Lisec increased the lead to a crushing 36 points. The final buzzer sealed the victory of the Yekaterinburg team with a score of 84:48.  

The highest-scoring player in the squad of UMMC was Jovana Nogic with 15 points and 1 rebound. Eva Lisec scored 12 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. Maria Klyundikova contributed 11 points and 6 rebounds.     

In the squad of Dynamo, Elena Mikhailova stood out with 16 points and 5 rebounds. Ksenia Nesterova had 8 points and 9 rebounds, while Anastasia Komissarenko scored 6 points and collected 2 rebounds.

The “Foxes” will play their next game away in Novosibirsk on October 11, where they will face the local Dynamo team. The broadcast starts at 19:00.
