UMMC-Junior lose to Chevakata in first home game

On October 4, UMMC-Junior started the new season of the Fonbet Superleague at their home arena in Verkhnyaya Pyshma. The Yekaterinburg team fought hard but lost to their opponents from Vologda-Chevakata with a score of 55:62.

Quarters’ results: 9:14, 18:12, 12:19, 16:17

The home team scored the first points at the start. However, the “Bees” secured a 6-point lead by the middle of the first quarter. The period ended with a score of 9:14 in favor of Chevakata.

In the next segment, the hosts managed to put up a fight. The junior “Foxes” not only managed to tie the score in the last minute but also gained a minimal lead for the first time. The athletes went for the halftime break with a score of 27:26 in favor of the team of Elena Kuzmina.

Once the game resumed, both sides were determined to maintain their intensity. With the score knotted at 35-35 halfway through the ten-minute period, Chevakata made another run. Before the final segment, the scoreboard showed 39-45 in favor of the guests.

Despite a closely contested final quarter, the opponents from Vologda proved to be stronger. Leading by 7 points, they did not relinquish their victory. The final buzzer confirmed a win for Chevakata with a score of 55-62.

In the squad of UMMC-Junior, the captain Anastasia Odintsova became the highest-scoring player with 16 points and 5 rebounds. Aleksandra Sklyarova and Maria Sedyakina each added 8 points and grabbed 3 rebounds.   

In the squad of Chevakata, three players had 12 points: Elizaveta Zaytseva, Anastasia Kuplinova, and Alina Zamaraeva.

The juniors will play their next game tomorrow, on October 5. The second game against Chevakata will take place at 1:00 PM (Sports Palace of UMMC).
