The farm team began the official season with the qualifying stage of the Russian Cup, which took place from September 20 to 22. According to the draw, UMMC-Junior got in Group G along with Metallurg (Magnitogorsk) and Slavyanka (Chelyabinsk). The games were held in Magnitogorsk at the Romazan Sports Palace.
On September 20, the team coached by Elena Kuzmina played against the hosts from Metallurg. The game was tough, and the winner was determined in the last seconds. In their first official game of the season, the “Foxes” lost to their opponents by a margin of two points - 50:52.

Based on the results of the encounter, the highest-scoring player in the squad of UMMC-Junior was Sofia Golubeva who logged a double-double with 12 points and 14 rebounds. On September 22, the junior team of the “Foxes” played against Slavyanka-CHKPZ from Chelyabinsk. In a tough contest, the Yekaterinburg team secured a hard-fought victory with a score of 57:56. However, unfortunately, the win in the Sunday game did not grant UMMC-Junior a spot in the Final Four of the Berlin Cup – due to additional criteria, Slavyanka proved to be stronger and ultimately took first place.

The Regular Championship of Russia for UMMC-Junior starts next week. On October 4, the Yekaterinburg team will face Vologda-Chevakata at the Sports Palace of UMMC. The game begins at 5:00pm.
