The UMMC basketball club has announced its second offseason signing - 29-year-old center Eva Lisec from the Slovenian national team, who is already familiar to fans for her previous performances in the Russian Premier League. Last season, she played for the Syktyvkar team NIKA-Luzales. With the “Lynxes”, she not only made it into the symbolic five of the playoffs as the best forward but also helped her team win silver for the first time in the Russian Championship final. Her average statistics for the Championship were 10.8 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 3.1 assists.
The past season was remarkable for Eva, as she participated in EuroBasket 2023 as part of the Slovenian national team. - Welcome to Yekaterinburg, Eva! How did you spend your holidays?
Thank you! When the season was over, I went on a short trip and later returned to Slovenia, where I spent time with my family. While I was at home, I did Pilates, played basketball, and went to the gym to prepare for the upcoming season. That's how my vacation went.
- You have three years of experience playing in the Russian Premier League. In your opinion, are there any fundamental differences or specific features compared to other European countries?
I don't think the Russian Premier League has any particular features. It's great that there are now more opponents who play on the same level and provide competition.
- There are two athletes from our team who you played with during your first season in Russia at Dynamo (Kursk) — Olairi Kosu and Kseniia Levchenko. Do you keep in touch with them?
Yes, I keep in touch with the girls. Of course, we don't communicate every day, but we stay in constant contact.
- What do you like doing in your free time? Do you have any hobbies?
I don’t have any special hobbies. I like spending time with my family and close friends.
- Which game do you consider the most significant in your career so far?
I don’t think there is a single game that stands out in my career, but there is one that I remember particularly well – the final of the Russian Championship, when playing for Kursk we beat UMMC and won the gold. The emotions were incredible.
- What are your expectations for the new season with the “Foxes”?
My expectations for the new season with the “Foxes” are very simple (laughing). To win all three awards – the Super Cup, the Cup, and to win the Championship.
- Are you happy that your surname will be finally pronounced correctly?
You have no idea how happy I am! Please, don’t call me “Lizek” anymore, just Lisec (pronounced /Lisets/).
- Do you want to say anything to our fans before the start of the season?
I am very happy to be in Yekaterinburg. I want to greet all the fans and get to know them. I know that UMMC has the coolest fans, so I am looking forward to meeting them.
We wish Eva good luck and new sports achievements with the “Foxes”!
