Juniors wrap up the pre-season tournament in Ivanovo

The young “Foxes” participated in the Litvinov pre-season tournament, which took place in Ivanovo from September 3 to 8. The team of Elena Kuzmina finished the championship in fourth place. It is worth reminding that there were 8 participating teams from the Russian Super League.

In the opening game, the Yekaterinburg team lost to Energy, the hosts of the tournament, with a score of 52:87. They later put up a strong fight against the Moscow team MBA-MGUSiT-2, winning 63:57. In the third game, UMMC-Junior secured another victory, this time against Dynamo-Farm from Kursk, with a score of 64:55. In the final game of the tournament, the UMMC farm team lost to Vologda-Chevakata - 53:98. The newcomer of UMMC-Junior Anastasia Odintsova (team captain) was named the best power forward of the tournament.

Elena Kuzmina, UMMC-Junior head coach:

- The main goals before the tournament were the following: to achieve good teamwork and find mutual understanding, and of course, to work on team coordination. Some things worked out well, some didn’t, but the start was promising. We are still in the initial stage of building cohesion, and such tournaments are an excellent continuation of summer training camps.

-  As for the players, I was pleased with each athlete's desire to prove themselves on the court. The motivation was very high. I also saw teamwork in both offense and defense. In challenging games against more mature opponents, Anastasia Odintsova emerged as a team leader; her experience in the Super League was evident.

In the future, we plan to train young and talented players in “adult” basketball to develop them into professionals capable of competing in Super League and Premier League games.

We wish our young “Foxes” good luck!
