UMMC-Junior: New Roster and Personnel Changes

It has become known that in the upcoming season, the youth team of the UMMC basketball club will undergo significant changes.

It is worth reminding that last season, UMMC-Junior finished in 4th place in the Russian Super League championship.

Only two experienced athletes from the previous roster of the farm-team will remain: point guard Maria Sedyakina and center Alena Burmakina. Seven players from UMMC-DUBL will join UMMC-Junior for the 24/25 season: Karolina Korkina, Alena Basova, Polina Gusakova, Alina Gaiazova, Daria Pushkareva, Maria Esipova, and Sofia Golubeva, who was included in the symbolic five of the Youth Basketball League championship (DUBL) in the 23/24 season. The young “Foxes” will also be joined by Alexandra Sklyarova (Runa), Anastasia Odintsova (Sparta & K-2), Viktoria Kislitsina (Dynamo-Junior), Svetlana Samusheva (Enisey-2), and Miroslava Sudarikova (Dynamo-DUBL). The Super League is planning to include young players born in 2008 from the current UMMC-DUBL team: Irina Vygonaya, Ekaterina Senkina and Marina Solovyeva.

There have also been changes in the coaching staff. The Yekaterinburg team will play and train under the guidance of Honored Master of Sports Elena Kuzmina (head coach) and Master of Sports of International Class Vera Golubeva (assistant coach), who previously led the UMMC-DUBL team that won the bronze medal in the Youth Basketball League championship among juniors in the 23/24 season. Interestingly, both Elena and Vera played for the UMMC basketball club in the past. This season the physical training of the athletes will be conducted by Candidate for Master of Sports in athletics, ultra-runner, and record holder of Russia, Sergey Shelapugin.
