Former «Fox» Sandrine Gruda announces her retirement

French center Sandrine Gruda joined the UMMC basketball club in 2007 and spent 9 successful seasons there.

“I remember signing a contract to go to Russia at 19 years old. People were telling me I was too young. No other French women had left that young, that was the mentality”, - Sandrine remembers.

With the “Foxes,” she won the EuroLeague and the SuperCup in 2013. The French player also became an eight-time champion of Russia and won the Russian Cup six times with UMMC.

Among other things, the center successfully represented the national team of France, making her debut at the age of 19. In 2009, she led her team to victory at the European Championship, and in 2012, she became a silver medalist at the Summer Olympics in London.

In 2016, Gruda became the champion of the WNBA with the Los Angeles Sparks.

“I saw all the sacrifices I had to make going overseas without my family when I was so young, but I’m happy for the friendships I have made along the way. I am also happy I have prepared my career after basketball, while still playing” – the basketball player added.

The UMMC basketball club wishes Sandrine good health, prosperity, and success in her new stage of life."
