Juniors lose to Sparta&K-2 in the second game of the final series

UMMC-Junior played another game within the framework of the Fonbet Russian Championship – Super League. On May 1, the juniors and the local team Sparta&K-2 met in Vidnoje.

It is worth noting that the previous encounter of the teams in this championship ended with a victory for the younger “Foxes” with a score of 79:72.

The first half of the starting quarter turned out to be competitive; the game was closely contested. Thanks to a three-pointer from Polina Kuznetsova and an accurate mid-range shot from Elizaveta Kolotovkina, the team of Tatyana Fefilova gained an advantage. Towards the end, Daria Sharova successfully finished several attacks from long and mid-range distances, increasing her team's lead to 11 points. The quarter ended with a score of 17:26 in favor of the Yekaterinburg team.

The second period didn’t go well for the juniors. Their advantage in the score melted away. However, UMMC-Junior was ahead by just 3 points before the halftime break – 35:38.

The third quarter was tough. The lead swung back and forth between two teams. In the seventh minute, Margarita Kuziakina and Daria Sidorova marked a 4-point lead in their favor with successful drives. The hosts leveled the progress, and before the final part, the scoreboard showed 53:54 in favor of the UMMC junior team.

Only the last quarter was decisive in determining the winner. At the start, the Spartak players made a successful run, first leveling the score, and then extending the lead to a maximum of 10 points for the game. Unfortunately, there was no intrigue until the end of the game time. The juniors lost to their opponents with a score of 76:70. The series score is now 1:1, which means that the next home game will be decisive.

In the squad of UMMC-Junior, Daria Sharova became the top-scorer with 20 points and 1 assist. Margarita Kuziakina collected 10 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists. Elizaveta Kolotovkina added 8 points, 5 rebounds. Polina Kuznetsova, Nina Ulchenkova, Maria Sedyakina and Alena Burmakina scored 7 points apiece.

In the squad of Sparta&K-2, Karina Komarova became the scoring leader, logging a double-double with 21 points and 12 rebounds. Alina Bazhenova accumulated 15 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists. Polina Selezeneva had 12 points, 4 rebounds, 6 assists.

The next game will be held on May 5 (Sun) on the home court of the Sports Palace of UMMC in Verkhnyaya Pyshma. The game starts at 13.00.
