Juniors defeat Spartak in first semifinal game

The playoff semi-finals of the Russian Super League Fonbet Championship have started. On April 15, UMMC-Junior faced Spartak from St. Petersburg at their home arena in Verkhnyaya Pyshma. The home team claimed victory.

The visiting team opened the scoring. The hosts gained an 8-point advantage in the 7th minute thanks to three successful attacks by Polina Kuznetsova. In the final seconds, an accurate shot from beyond the arc from Daria Sharova sealed the result. The quarter ended with a score of 27:16 in favor of Tatyana Fefilova's team.

In the second quarter, the team from St. Petersburg attempted to reduce the gap by scoring long-range shots. However, the effective attacks from all distances by Alena Burmakina, who scored 7 points in three minutes of playing time, served as a counterbalance. The first half of the game ended with UMMC-Junior leading by 17 points - 44:27.

In the third period, the hosts continued to increase their advantage. The successful attacks from beyond the arc by Maria Sedyakina and Nina Ulchenkova are worthy of note. Before the final part of the game, UMMC-Junior was ahead by 23 points - 65:42.
In the fourth quarter, the guests were locally stronger, allowing the junior team to score 12 points. However, this did not affect the outcome of the game, and the scoreboard sealed the victory of UMMC-Junior with a score of 77:65.

In the squad of UMMC-Junior, Maria Sedyakina became the top-scorer with 18 points and 6 rebounds. Nina Ulchenkova added 16 points and 3 rebounds. Margarita Kuziakina and Daria Sharova scored 10 points apiece.

In the squad of Spartak, Svetlana Kramar became the scoring leader with 20 points and 6 rebounds. Gulnaz Siraeva accumulated 13 points and 3 rebounds. Ekaterina Voronina finished with 10 points and 4 rebounds.
