Juniors snatch victory from MBA-2 to advance to the semifinals

In the quarterfinals of the Fonbet Russian Super League Championship, the junior "Foxes" faced their Moscow opponents from MBA-2 for the second time. The game was tense, and the winner was determined in the final minutes.

The beginning of the game saw an equal fight and the game was closely contested until the middle of the playing time. Five minutes later, thanks to an accurate three-pointer from Nina Ulchenkova, the team of Tatyana Fefilova took the lead, which they kept until the end of the first ten-minute period – the score was 13:15 in favor of UMMC-Junior. 

The second quarter continued in a similar rhythm. An accurate shot from behind the arc from Polina Kuznetsova and mid-range shots from Daria Sidorova helped to gain a 7-point advantage. However, the hosts quickly caught up with their opponents. The teams went for the halftime break with UMMC-Junior holding a minimal lead - 29:31.
The second half of the game was tense for both teams. The opponents alternately took the lead. The successful three-pointers from Elizaveta Kolotovkina, Daria Sharova, and Polina Kuznetsova are deserving notice. In the final seconds, the UMMC players secured a victory with a two-point lead and advanced to the semifinals of the Fonbet Russian Super League Championship. 

In the squad of UMMC-Junior, Polina Kuznetsova became the top-scorer with 13 points and 7 rebounds. Maria Sedyakina and Elizaveta Kolotovkina added 11 points apiece. Margarita Kuziakina finished with 7 points and 5 rebounds.

In the squad of MBA-2, Nadezhda Yazykova became the scoring leader with 12 points and 4 rebounds. Kristina Savkovich had 10 points and 8 rebounds. Veronika Loginova, Valeria Yakovleva and Marya Boyko scored 8 points apiece.
