Another game of the second round of the Fonbet Russian Super League Championship took place at the Sports Palace in Verkhnyaya Pyshma. On March 22, the junior “Foxes” faced Runa from Moscow. The game was tense, and the winner was determined in the final quarter.
It is worth noting that the previous meeting between the teams was held several days ago and ended in victory for the opponents from Moscow with a score of 59:62.

The first quarter was very tough for the Yekaterinburg team. They only started scoring their first points in the 7th minute of game time. Mid-range shots from Alena Burmakina and Daria Sharova, along with a three-pointer from Polina Kuznetsova, allowed them to catch up with their opponents. The score was 10:9 at the end of the opening quarter.
The second period also was closely contested. After a minute, the younger “Foxes” surged ahead. However, later, a back-and-forth battle ensued on the court. The successful attacks from beyond the arc by Margarita Kuziakina, Elizaveta Kolotovkina and Polina Kuznetsova are worthy of note. The teams went for the halftime break with the guests holding a minimal lead; the score was 26:24.
The second half of the game proceeded at a similar pace. It was a close game. This continued until the middle of the final stretch. Since this moment the “Foxes” allowed their opponents to gain a 10-point advantage. The team coached by Tatyana Fefilova failed to make a comeback - they lost to Runa with a score of 61:56.
In the squad of UMMC-Junior, Polina Kuznetsova became the top-scorer with 16 points and 7 rebounds. Daria Sharova added 11 points; Alena Burmakina had 8 points and 9 rebounds.
In the squad of Runa, Kristina Bakaeva accumulated 12 points and 9 rebounds, followed by Yulia Savukova with 11 points and 5 rebounds; Eleonora Oleynikova finished the game with 10 points and 3 rebounds.
The “Foxes” next take on Dynamo-Farm (Kursk) at home, on March 24 at 1:00 p.m. This encounter will be the final one in the regular season of the Women's Super League.
