The management of the basketball club UMMC, together with the inclusive project of the Russian Basketball Federation “Quiet! Basketball”, which creates conditions for people with disabilities to play basketball, made a decision to donate the prize money for the development of basketball to regional public organizations.
Thus, 1 million rubles were allocated to the Sverdlovsk regional branch of the Special Olympics of Russia, and another 500 thousand rubles - to the Sverdlovsk regional public organization of disabled people “Sunny Children”.
The solemn ceremony of funds transfer took place on February 23 at the Palace of Sports in Yekaterinburg before the game UMMC - Neftyanik-Titan.
Maxim Ryabkov, general manager of BC UMMC:
- Participants of the “Special Olympics” and wards of the “Sunny Children” organization are children who are striving for their lives to be enriched, interesting and fulfilling, to have sports in their lives. We can only welcome and support this. The basketball club UMMC is very pleased to become part of the RFB project called “quiet!basketball”, which is aimed at involving children and adults with disabilities in basketball.
Mira Khairullina, head of the department of special projects of the Russian Basketball Federation:
- Basketball clubs in the Sverdlovsk region have been supporting adaptive children sports clubs for many years: players regularly conduct masterclasses, and children with mental disabilities are invited to home games. The decision of BC UMMC and the Russian Basketball Federation to transfer prize money to special organizations will allow coaches to update the existing facilities and equipment, purchase the necessary balls, ladders and barbells.
Also, on February 22, at the sports school No. 3 named after A.D. Myshkin, the “quiet!basketball” team conducted a masterclass for children from the Special Olympics of Russia. It was held together with the project ambassador Fedor Likholitov and UMMC athletes Anastasiia Shilova and Alexandra Stolyar.
