UMMC Defeat Dynamo Moscow on the Road

The international break came to an end, and BC UMMC opened the third round of the regular championship – Premier League on February 19. In an away game in Moscow, the Yekaterinburg team faced the local Dynamo, which takes last place in the standings.

It is worth noting that due to injuries received at the “Friendship Games” in Minsk, representatives of both teams – Maryia Papova (UMMC) and Daria Magalyas (Dynamo) were absent from the game. Roster changes did not end there - the “Foxes” were reinforced by Sparkle Taylor, and Polina Kuznetsova from the UMMC-Junior team was called up to the reserve.

In the opening quarter, the Yekaterinburg team made a serious bid for victory. Despite the fact that the beginning of the period saw a relatively equal fight, in the second half of the quarter, Dmitrii Donskov's team made a rapid spurt. Successful attacks by Victoria Macaulay and Kseniia Levchenko secured a significant advantage in the score for UMMC – 12:25. The team’s “rookie” Sparkle Taylor contributed by scoring 6 points in a short period of time.

In the second quarter, the guests continued to control the course of events on the court. Kseniia Levchenko showed her skills by successfully implementing regular accurate shots from behind the arc, and it seemed that she regained confidence in her abilities. The teams went for the halftime break with a score of 29:44 in favour of the “Foxes”.   

The second half of the game continued in a similar vein. UMMC players systematically increased the gap. Premier League debutant Polina Kuznetsova also got some playing time – she had 4 points and 2 rebounds. The final buzzer sealed the victory of the Yekaterinburg team – 62:90.

The highest-scoring players in the squad of UMMC were Anastasia Olairi Kosu, registering a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds, and Victoria Macaulay finishing the game with 16 points and 5 rebounds. Megan Walker accumulated 14 points and 7 rebounds, Kseniia Levchenko earned 14 points and 2 rebounds.

In the squad of Dynamo, Anastasia Komarova became the top-scorer, reaching a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Anna Borodina added 10 points and 6 rebounds. Alisa Latsgal had 8 points and 4 rebounds.

The “Foxes” will play the next game on the home court of DIVS Arena on February 23. On this holiday, there will be a game against Neftyanik-Titan from the Omsk region. The game starts at 5.00 pm.
