UMMC-Junior basketball players played another game of the Fonbet Russian Championship - Super League. In Vologda, the Yekaterinburg team faced their opponents from the local team Vologda-Chevakata.
The first quarter turned out to be competitive. The host team responded to every successful attack of the “Foxes”. The opponents went for a break with a score of 12:14 in favour of Tatyana Fefilova’s team.
In the second quarter, UMMC-Junior managed to impose their pace of play. At the start of the quarter, thanks to the effective attacks of Polina Kuznetsova, the Yekaterinburg team took the lead. The “Foxes” went for the halftime break with a quite comfortable advantage - 28:37.
In the third ten-minute period there was no sensation - the “orange” squad continued to control the course of events on the court, blocking the rivals’ attempts to reduce the difference, and they ended it with a 10-point lead - 43:53.
In the final quarter, the host team attempted to make a run and even won the quarter locally. Despite this, they failed to get closer to the guests from the capital of the Urals; the result was 68:74 in favour of the junior “Foxes”. Thus, UMMC-Junior is moving to second place in the Championship list.
In the squad of UMMC-Junior, Polina Kuznetsova became the top-scorer, finishing with 18 points and 8 rebounds. Elizaveta Kolotovkina and Daria Sharova earned 13 points each, Margarita Kuziakina accumulated 11 points and 7 rebounds.
In the squad of the host team, Eseniya Magzhanova became the scoring leader with 21 points and 6 assists. Lidiya Malakhova had 15 points and 6 rebounds, Polina Veselova added 11 points and 7 rebounds.
UMMC-Junior will play the next game on February 24, at home, on the main court of the Sports Palace of UMMC in Verkhnyaya Pyshma. Their opponents will be basketball players from BC Platov (Rostov-on-Don). The game starts at 13:00.
