UMMC wins the first home game of the season

UMMC, the reigning champion, the winner of the SuperCup and Russian Cup, confidently beat Neftyanik-Titan from Omsk on the main court of DIVS Arena in the first home game of the season, as part of Fonbet Championship of Russia – Premier League.

Megan Walker (12 points) and Alexandria Bentley (10 points) became the top-scorers of the encounter in the squad of UMMC. Tina Krajisnik failed to achieve a double-double (8 points and 11 rebounds) as well as Anastasia Olairi Kosu (7 points and 11 rebounds).

In the opposing team, Maria Cherepanova scored 12 points.

-       That was the first home game of the new season and, of course, we are happy that played it well and won. However, I would like to mention that for the second game of the championship we still lack teamwork. But this is just the time, when playing with Dynamo Moscow, Neftyanik Omsk, Dynamo Novosibirsk we have an opportunity to develop teamwork in defense and offense in the official games.

Perhaps, today it wasn’t one the most beautiful victories, but the most important thing is that we won. At this stage, it is more important to find team chemistry when the players feel each other on the court. And this is precisely expressed in a well-timed pass, in a well-timed opening, in a well-timed screen and a well-timed pass into a fast break.

We always want to show a beautiful basketball for our spectators, but today we are setting other tasks.
