UMMC beat Dynamo at the start of the season

UMMC won its opening match of the national championship, confidently defeating Dynamo on the court of the Sports Palace in Moscow.

The starting quarter became decisive in this game; the reigning national champion won with a four-fold advantage - 21:5. A highlight was the debut of Victoria Macaulay, who appeared on the court in the middle of the quarter and immediately earned 8 points in a row with one hundred percent result. In the end, Zhosselina Maiga came into play, and already in the next ten-minute period, the new UMMC centers extended the lead to 20 points - 25:5. By the halftime Dynamo’s gap looked catastrophic, the difference in the score reached 32 points – 51:19.

After switching sides, the fortune smiled upon the “blue-whites”, they finally began to hit the basket, and the second half of the encounter was already competitive. However, UMMC completely controlled the course of the game, while focusing on its local tasks. The coaching staff of our team actively used rotation, developing teamwork, trying to fairly distribute time among players. In the squad of UMMC only Megan Walker didn’t enter the court in Moscow.

As a result, by the end of the encounter, Dynamo managed to win back 8 points, but this didn’t save the team of Aleksey Chirkov from a crushing defeat. UMMC celebrated a confident victory at the start of the new season - 86:62 and extended its winning streak, which started last season, up to 45 wins.

The UMMC centers became the highest-scoring players of the encounter. Albina Razheva collected 15 points, 3 rebounds and 4 assists, Victoria Macaulay came up with 14 points and 4 rebounds, Anastasia Olairi Kosu earned 13 points and 4 rebounds, Tina Krajisnik logged a double-double of 13 points and 10 rebounds.

In the opposing team two players reached double-digit results - Varvara Psareva scored 11 points and Anastasiya Komarova earned 10 points.

The “Foxes” will play the next game on October 12 on the main court of DIVS Arena, meeting with Neftyanik-Titan from Omsk. The game starts at 19:00. The match will be broadcast live by “Mir Basketbola” and OTV channels.
