Young foxes advance to DYUBL Championship semifinals

Yekaterinburg’s UMMC Youth Team cruised through the group stage of the DYUBL (Children and Youth Basketball League) Championship to secure a place in the semifinals. The tournament is currently being held in Sochi at the Lesnoye Sports Complex.

From April 24 to 26, eight of the country’s top teams competed for spots in the final stage, split into two groups. Coached by Rustam Abdullin, UMMC Youth Team were placed in Group F2, where they faced Sparta & K-DYUBL (Vidnoye), Spartak (Saint Petersburg), and Slavyanka-CHBK (Chelyabinsk region).

The Yekaterinburg team went through the group stage without a slip-up, winning all three of their games. In the opener, the young foxes defeated Sparta & K-DYUBL 65–54. That was followed by a tightly contested matchup against Spartak Saint Petersburg, which ended in a narrow 64–62 victory. In the final round, the Ural team convincingly defeated Slavyanka-CHBK 74–65.

As a result, UMMC Youth Team topped their group. Spartak also advanced to the semifinals, while the remaining teams will compete for places 5–8.

The semifinals are set for April 28, with the young foxes facing UOR No. 3 (Vidnoye) for a spot in the final. The tournament’s decisive games, including the final and classification matchups for 3rd, 5th and 7th place, will be held on April 29.
