All main achievements of “UMMC“ Basketball players – just the top of iceberg. Any of victories no matter it’s Russian, European or International should begin in Junior team.
In November 2000 the Fund of Basketball Development of UMMC has created a Junior team and 15-18 year old perspective girls from different regions of Russia and Yekaterinburg city entered there. From the first days of its being “UMMC-Junior”, Farm team of Euro League Championship of 2003 demonstrated a “mature” game. “Baptism of fire” UMMC Juniors got on January 16th 2001.Actually, this date is considered to be the official birthday of Farm Club.
As for the Juniors professional growth - it’s just enough to follow through the chronology of spent playing seasons. In January/February of 2001 the team took part in Sverdlovsk Regional Championship and confidently took the first place. Next season the team showed its first appearance in Russian Championship League A and took the 7th place (of 12th) It’s second season of 2004 the team finished on the 8th place. In season of 2004 the team took part in DUBL and took the 5th place and became a silver prize-winner in Championship.
The season of 2005 became the luckiest for Junior team. At first, basketball players of UMMC Junior Team under the guidance of legendary Olga Shuneikina got a title of the 3rd Championship of Youth Basketball League. The players have brought two Cups to Yekaterinburg. The first is Champions’ and the second one is for “Honest game”. For the second, the team confirmed its Title of Silver- winner in Russian Championship among League A. Five players were invited to the National Team of Russia. Kristina Alikina and Elena Legostaeva (Juniors date of birth 1986).Evgeniya Teplyashina, Elena Gogiya and Mariya Korovkina (Juniors date of birth 1987).
Today UMMC is the whole system searches new talented people professionally, improve the skills of players and finally brings them to the level of main team. |
