27.01.19 | The tenth century in the season and slam-dunk from Brittney Griner

In the 13th round of the domestic regular Championship an acting Russian and EuroLeague titleholder UMMC acting on the road in Kursk routed local Inventa to add the tenth hundred points on its tally.

Since the first seconds Miguel Mendez’s team eliminated any doubts, if there were any, about the match outcome after they won the first quarter with triple advantage – 27:9. The same scenario repeated in the following 3 periods with UMMC demonstrating total control on court. The guest skillfully used its advantage to score points in perimeter and control what was happening on boards.

No wonder that UMMC tall players showed the best results and collected half of the total number of points. Once again, Maria Vadeeva harvested double-double – 19 points and 10 rebounds. However, that night it was Brittney Griner who stole the show with a nice and spectacular slam -dunk with 71:45 on the board and 4 minutes to play in the third quarter. So far, UMMC center recorded 3 slam –dunks in the official Premier-league games. The first two dunks came up on November 2015 in the UMMC home match against Vologda-Chevakata.

In the beginning of the last period, the «orange» squad initiated another one-side run – 9:0. Tatiana Petrushina was able to score 4 points in one attack followed by more points from Raisa Musina and Maria Vadeeva. Within one minute, Natalia Vieru acting from under the hoop stretched the score difference to the maximum figures – 99:55. After precise shooting by Elena Beglova from the free throw line UMMC crossed its 10th hundred in the ongoing season – 101:63. The final buzzer went on with the following figures on the scoreboard – 105: 68.

After 13 rounds of the Russian regular domestic championship, UMMC shows flawless result and tops the Russian Premier-league standings.

UMMC is having the next game in Prague competing tin the EuroLeague group round game against Czech USK. Meanwhile the next Russian league match will take place on February 3 in Ekaterinburg when Foxes are about to face Sparta&K Moacow region.
