02.02.18 | UMMC players have been summoned to join the national team training session on February
Russian women’s national team coaching staff named 16 players that have been called up to get ready for 2 upcoming matches of FIBA Women's EuroBasket 2019 Qualifiers.
6 UMMC players are going to join national squad on February 2 to participate in the training and education session in Novogorsk: guards Evgenia Belyakova, Elena Beglova, Viktoria Zavialova, forwards Tatiana Petrushina, Raisa Musina and center Natalia Vieru.
We remind that Russian national team competes in FIBA Women's EuroBasket 2019 Qualifiers in Group C against Albania, Lithuania and Hungary. Each team will have 6 matches and the qualification round will end up the second half of November 2018. A total of 32 teams are participating in the Qualifiers, having been drawn into eight groups of four teams each. Eventually, the eight group winners and six best second-placed teams will join hosts Latvia and Serbia at the FIBA Women's EuroBasket 2019 Final Round.
Russian basketball players started in November 2017 and came up with 2 wins. In the first match competing on the road, Russia stormed past Albania - 122:37 and moved on to defeat Lithuania in Moscow - 64:62. After 2 rounds Hungary also gathered two wins.
After short training session in Novogorsk Russian players are moving on to Miscolk in order to meet Group C leaders – Hungary on February 10. Meanwhile on February 14 in Perm our team is going to meet the team of Albania.
