UMMC Junior team experienced coaches shared with young basketball players a piece of advice and few practical lessons. While junior players of UMMC team currently, competing in Superleage-1, helped to conduct an intense and active training session.
An interesting workshop on court as always started with proper warm-up. Girls had to do few exercises holding a ball with both hands aimed on coordination and vestibular system proper development. Next, they tried to speed dribble keeping the ball under control. The exercises got more difficult when the tennis ball joined the basket ball and the player had to catch the small one while working with the big ball.
UMMC Junior Anastasia Levinskaya:
- These are the basic exercises that will help the girls to develop concentration and feel comfortable during the matches.
Practicing the standard basketball positions was the workshop’s highest point when 2 and 3 players working together tried to attack the opponent’s hoop. Young Foxes showed the way their can act as a team. Many girls did an excellent job demonstrating true team spirit. They felt confident moving on the ball and understood each other through the insight, thus reaching the goal.
UMMC-Junior Assisting Coach Artem Rojhin:
- Tonight we tried both individual and group training. It was obvious that the girls were nervous; however, all of them were glad to participate in the workshop and got all the benefits of one-hour training session. Next time we will focus on team interaction acting in both offense and defense.
After the workshop was over junior Foxes told the way they felt, shared the impressions, many asked the coach and older BC UMMC players many different questions.
Sonya Golubeva (11 years):
- I liked the training. I heard many advices and learned interesting ideas that I can effectively use in the game. I will try hard. My whole family is a united basketball dynasty. For example, my Mom Vera is World Champion Silver Winner and EuroLeague Women 2003 Winner. After the masterclass today, I made up my mind to play in the BC UMMC main team and be as good as Diana Taurasi and Brittney Griner. I want to be a Champion, like my Mom.
